NBTE ACCREDITATION

The Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Kaduna, jointly carried out an Inspection Visitation to the institution from 5th May 2013 to 8th May 2013. The Honourable Minister of Education has given approval for the operation of the institution via a letter with Ref. No. C/TEB.553/Vol1/189 dated 23rd May 2014 and signed by the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Dr  M. A. Kazaure, mni. Equally, NBTE board has granted accreditation for all the programmes presented for accreditation via a letter with Ref. No.TEB/PRO/VEIs/IEIs/170/Vol.1/64 dated 23rd May 2014 and signed by the Director of Programmes of NBTE, Arc Thomas Adekunle.

The President and Chairman of the governing council of the college, Mr Edet A. Ekanem stated that the vision and mission of the college depart from that of the conventional universities and polytechnics. That Foundation College of Technology, Ikot Ekpene, is a specialized institution designed to develop low and middle cadre manpower to meet the need of Hi-Tech industries. Mr Ekanem further explained that the programmes of the college are skill-based tailored to link theoretical knowledge with practical applications in industries.

The students, on completion of the college will be equipped with sufficient skills to establish their own businesses and employ other teaming youths.

The President also pointed out that the college is primarily concerned with building capacity for the realization of government vision of building cottage industries across the country.

The Registrar of the College, Mr Fidelis A. Ekpo, called on the prospective candidates to enroll in the college, and obtain qualitative education that is comparable to any standard tertiary institution anywhere in the world.

 

On the quality of facilities and laboratory equipment of Foundation College of Technology, Ikot Ekpene, Obong Edet O. Udoh (JP), a Director in the Federal Character Commission, Abuja, expressed satisfaction with the management of the college for building and equipping such a college of an international standard.
