DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER HARDWARE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
The department offers the following programmes:
(i) National Innovation Diploma (NID) in Computer Hardware Engineering Technology,
(ii) Cetifcae in Computer Repairs and Maintenance,
(iii) Certificate in VSAT Installation, and CCTV Design & Installation.
Objectives of the programme:
A product of National Diploma programme in Computer Hardware Engineering Technology should be able to:
(i) Operate and maintain basic Operating Systems (DOS & Windows}
(ii) Understand the computer environment and acquire the skills needed to identify and optimize memory and computer configuration.
(iii) Start and manage computer-based businesses
(iv) Carry out routine (preventive) maintenance of Computer systems
(v) Be able to assemble and install micro computers.
(vi) Partition and format disks and load files
(vii) Install window NT\200x in a multi-boot configuration.
(viii) Install and uninstall software
(ix) Detect technical faults in a Micro Computer
(x) Setup and troubleshoot basic Network in LAN
Entry Qualifications:
The entry qualifications into National Diploma (ND) in Computer Hardware Engineering Technology programme include any of the following:-
(a) Five (5) credit level passes in GCE “O” level or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) at not more than two sittings. The five subjects must include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English language and any other one from Metal works, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Geography, and Further Mathematics.
(b) National Vocational Certificate (NVC, Final) or National Technical Certificate {NTC} with credit passes in the trade modules and five academic subjects relevant to the programme and at least a pass in English language.
